3 Things to Lessen your Stress in Writing your Thesis

Updated: Mar 14, 2020

Writing thesis is such a dreaded thing for many. College students or post graduate students are consumed with researching for related literature, gathering of data and the interpretation of it. The challenge is aggravated with proofreading and editing. Thesis can cause stress to the highest level.

Good thing that there are options to make writing thesis with lesser stress. Here are 3 tips how to do it:

1. Do it right the first time.

I know it is easier said than done. When you are very new in writing thesis, you are uncertain of what to do. But you can do things right the first time by preparing for it. Make sure that small details are looked into and follow the guide of writing of the paper. It will save you a lot time, energy and even money. You will also save relationships! Sometimes, when we are so stressed, people around us are affected. So, do it right and make your life with less spite.

2. Listen and follow your thesis adviser.

Thesis advisers have done it themselves so heed your ears to them. Ask questions when you don’t understand. Don’t be shy to clarify things because this will help you to make things lighter and avoid repeating the process. Revisions are a headache and major revision is a disaster. Your adviser is there to help you, take the opportunity and learn from them because they care about you.

3. Ask for help from others.

A help from others will really lessen your stress. May it be from a family member, a friend, a co-league or a service provider. There are people who can make your life easier. A virtual assistant (VA) can be your partner in writing your thesis. A VA can do proofreading, editing, and more. Check those who are available near you or somebody living thousand miles away from you.

Thesis is just a phase of life. It is not forever. It hones your character and increases your skills. Thesis also leads to change – of a group, a community, or even the world. Believe that you can. Your hard work is never in vain.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)
